This exciting itinerary is the first of its kind here at GoodTravels! Tons of social impact work, mixed with the music and heritage that so richly underlies Brazilian culture. For this trip, we are partnered with Room Service Int’l and Community in Action to celebrate the sights, sounds, and artistic flare of Brazil, all while giving back to an amazing cause. Put in the work to make a difference, celebrate with an epic dance party, then retreat to a remote resort to unwind and reflect on your incredible joint experience. We’ll have a professional photographer and filmmaker with us for the duration of our trip so we have tons of amazing visuals to recap our journey.

We will spend the first 7 days, 6 nights in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil’s famed seaside city, where we will partake in a balanced mix of volunteering, sightseeing, and relaxation. We’ll have 3 days of social impact work alongside Community in Action, focusing on a different project each day to activate multiple communities and immerse ourselves into varied parts of Rio. Days off will be spent at your leisure, do with them what you like, we’ll provide options! At the end of our 3rd day of social impact work in Rio, Room Service Int’l — a group of incredibly talented music makers, DJ’s, and philanthropists — is putting together an epic dance party, to culminate an eventful week of working hard to make a difference! Get your party shoes on, and be prepared to lose yourself in a night of lights, libations, and favela funk with bass-heavy beats to move your body to. Brazil is known for its musically rich culture. Let’s pay homage to that!

We will then spend the final 3 nights at a stunning, remote eco-resort 2 hours outside of Sao Paolo, where we will unwind, relax, reflect, eat, drink, play games, take hikes, lounge in the jacuzzi and by the natural pool, and so much more!

Day 2 // August 21

We wanted to make sure to account for some time to acclimate and recover from potential jet lag. Spend the entire day at your leisure; either head out on an excursion with our guide, go for a group beach day at Ipanema or Copacabana — some of Rio’s most popular beaches, shop at local markets, or hang back at the hotel by the pool and book a spa treatment or two. We can help you book any of these separate activities upon request.

Day 3 // August 22

Our first day of social impact work, we’ll be spending the day with the artists of Sprayvida. We will work with professional artists to partake in diverse community restoration projects, helping paint murals and houses in the favela. Local residents are keen to help out and this is a great way for volunteers to interact with the community. By painting murals, volunteers are creating and leaving something beautiful within the community, and changing the perception of the favelas. After a day’s work painting, grab a bite and some drinks in the neighborhood, then head back to the hotel for an evening dip in the pool.

Day 4 // August 23

Plant, prune, water, weed, harvest, build, educate and EAT! We will work with local community gardens to learn and about tropical gardening, medicinal plants, nutrition, and conservation. We will also work with local schools to start small gardens for students. In low-income communities, access to fresh and healthy food is inadequate, leading to high rates of obesity, diabetes, and other health issues. Urban Community Gardens can help mitigate these nutrition problems. Once we’re done, we’ll head back to the hotel for some R&R, with the option to head out for dinner and drinks.

Day 5 // August 24

Let’s get active on this last day of social impact work! Through sports, we will join kids to learn about the positive facets of physical education and recreation. Engaging youth in sports is essential to both individual and community health, as it leads to the empowerment and social inclusion of vulnerable youth. Sports programs also aid dialogue and the development of communication and conflict resolution skills, critical in this community where youth are coping with post-conflict trauma. Participating in sports provides a fun and secure platform for educators to promote sustainable social change for youth. To wrap the day up, we’ll head back to the hotel for some food and to freshen up for our epic night out! Once we’ve got our dancing shoes on and the nightlife is prime, we head out for a group night on the town with the Room Service Int’l team! Get ready to break some sweat to some fantastic music and Brazil’s own favela funk.

We can assist you with booking any of these separate activities upon request.
